This morning I had the pleasure to discover I have received the Bronze medal in the very first edition of the Belgian Photo Awards. The image that was commended is a recent shot, which I took deep in the Icelandic Highlands during stormy weather. I am proud and grateful having received this award and want to take the opportunity to also congratulate all the other talented photographers who placed and/or won their respective categories. It is an honour to be listed with so many talented people.

I captured this vertical panorama during really windy and rainy conditions deep in the Icelandic Highlands last summer. What really stood out to me is the saturated greens which you get in such wet conditions.

Other Commendations

While I took the Bronze medal in the Nature Landscape category, a few images also got other commendations which I have listed below.

This portrait of a young polar bear posing on top of an iceberg in East Greenland is a shot that will forever stay in my memories.

The young polar bear looked like he was smelling us when we approached it closely in East Greenland.

This sandstorm during one of my photo workshops last July was one of the highlights during last summer to me. I am glad I put up my drone and battled the windiest conditions I have ever flown in.

This penguin rookery was super high up on a mountain in the Lemaire Channel, which I visited last February in Antarctica.

I got really close up to Háifoss during my photo workshop with Mads Peter Iversen. Thanks to favourable wind conditions, I managed to get very close allowing me to take this super wide-angle shot.

No shortage of blue ice in Antarctica. I captured this on my recent trip in February.

Another highlight from the one of the photo workshops I hosted last summer. We had really beautiful conditions that evening.

I captured this lava tree during the first eruption at Sundhnúksgígar last December.

This image, which was also commended during the Natural Landscape Photography Awards, is one of my favourite shots from 2023.
