Hraunhjarta (translation: ‘Lava Heart‘) is a photograph taken during the 2022 volcanic eruption of Fagradalsfjall.

This is what the inside of the massive crater looked like. Being able to fly a small camera above a volcanic eruption in the middle of the night, gives us a fresh look at this incredible natural phenomenon. To me it looks like a beating heart with veins flowing out of it – giving life to the new landscape that is surrounding the crater.
