Earlier this year I had the pleasure of speaking to Matt Payne, a fellow photographer and the host of the photography-focused F-Stop Collaborate & Listen podcast. Today, the podcast interview has been made available to the public. I have to admit that I am not a frequent podcast listener myself but there are one or two I listen to pretty religiously with Matt’s being one of them. It was a real honor for me to be a guest on his F-Stop Collaborate & Listen podcast. During the interview, we spoke about a wide variety of topics such as my journey into photography, photographing the volcanic eruptions in Iceland, the use of AI in photography & the importance of experiences. But we also delved into the importance of ethics in photography and the reality of photo workshops in Iceland & beyond. I hope you enjoy listening to the podcast!
Here’s what Matt had to say about the interview:
When I bring guests onto F-Stop Collaborate and Listen, I’m always searching for those who live at the intersection of creativity, ethics, and passion for the craft. Jeroen Van Nieuwenhove, a Belgian-born photographer now carving his life and career among Iceland’s volcanoes and dramatic landscapes, exemplifies everything I love exploring on the podcast. Our latest conversation (Episode 444) was more than just a discussion about camera gear or fleeting trends—it was a masterclass in how to pursue meaningful photography with purpose, patience, and a profound respect for both nature and the people who call these wild places home.
