As many of you undoubtedly know, last year I had a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience a volcanic eruption up-close in a way that has rarely been possible. I visited the Geldingadalir eruption of the Fagradalsfjall volcanic system in Iceland over 44 times.
In the landscape photography community, Iceland is a prime location as there are so many bucket list shots to be made here. Perhaps some of the most sought after photographs, are those taken of the beautiful braided rivers which can only be seen from the sky.
There are currently no active volcanic eruptions on Iceland but there is still plenty of evidence of the tremendous heat present in the earth beneath it. On Iceland, there are many geothermal areas, which I find incredibly interesting to photograph.
It finally happened: I travelled to Greenland! A few weeks ago I made an impulsive, last-minute, but very rewarding visit to Ilulissat. My main goal? Photographing the majestic castles of ice floating in the UNESCO Ilulissat icefjord.
Today marks the day the eruption in Geldingadalir has been ongoing for 10 weeks. Come along on my photographic journey capturing the eruption in 10 photographs and videos.
A collection of aerial and landscape photographs made during several colourful summer nights deep in the Icelandic highlands. In the early summer of last year, I set out with my friend Gabor Nagy to spend a weekend exploring the southern region of the Icelandic highlands.
I recently spent some time documenting and exploring a few geothermal areas from an aerial perspective using a drone. This top-down perspective provides a unique look at the colourful world of Iceland's hot & festering earth. It can sometimes seem like the surface of a different planet.
