For the very first time my photographic work has been included in Myndir Ársins (Photographs of the Year), which is the annual photo exhibition of the Blaðaljósmyndarafélag Íslands (The Press Photographer Association of Iceland). It’s a great honor to be a part of this annual exhibition, especially as one of only two photographers who are not originally from Iceland. Most people who follow my work are likely unaware of this but for several years I have been working as a freelance press photographer. Ever since I began delving into photography, almost 20 years ago, I have worked on & off as a freelance press photographer. However, during the last 5 years, that work has become increasingly more important to me as I began focusing on the volcanic eruptions that have been taking place near Reykjavík for various foreign media.
This year the exhibition is free to visit and takes place at the Ljósmyndasafn Reykjavíkur (Photography Museum of Reykjavík) between April 11th 2026 and May 17th 2026.
Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to attend the opening ceremony of the exhibition because I was traveling in Madeira but I managed to make my way to the exhibition today.
Thanks to my friend Marco Di Marco for capturing this photo.
Two Of My Photographs On Display
Two of my photographs are on display during the Myndir Ársins exhibition at the Photography Museum of Reykjavík, which you can see below. I have shared both of these in the past and even written lengthy blogs on the stories behind the images.
Last summer, I spent a lot of time exploring the Highlands of Iceland. During one of these adventures, I managed to capture this circular rainbow.
