What a week!

Last week I travelled to Belgium for several reasons: the opening of my photo exhibition and three lectures on my time at the two most recent volcanic eruptions in Iceland. It turned out to be an exhausting but fulfilling week. I met many new and familiar faces, talked a lot about my photography and more.

Photography Exhibition: ‘Fire and Ice’

The primary purpose of my trip was setting up my newest photography exhibition, which is called ‘Fire and Ice’. This had been a very long time in the making. I had to postpone the exhibition, which was originally slated for early 2020, three times due to the pandemic. But at last the time came to show off my most recent work. Because I spent a lot of time at the most recent eruptions, I decided to focus on the huge contrasts which can be found in Iceland. I ended up choosing 51 photographs which paint a picture of what Iceland has to offer.

I was really happy with the turnout on the opening night and I’m proud to say I managed to sell half of the photographs already.

If you’re interested in buying one of them, or want to order one in a different size, you can have a look at my list of available photographs. Ordering a photograph can be done via my contact page and select “Fototentoonstelling / Photo Exhibition” as the subject.

The exhibition is still on display until November 13th 2022. It’s completely free of charge to visit. The location is CC Asse (in my home town in Belgium). Opening hours are as follows:

  • Mon: 8h30-12h & 15h-20h
  • Tue: 8h30-12h & 13h-18h
  • Wed: 13h-18h
  • Thu: 8h30-12h & 13h-20h
  • Fri: 8h30-12h & 13h-18h
  • Sat: 14h-18h

The exhibition is closed on November 1st, 2nd and 11th.

If you’re interested in meeting me in person, I will also be present during the last weekend of the exhibition. More information about this can be found in a special Facebook event.

About Last Week: Lectures & Photo Exhibition

Lectures on New Earth

Another important item on my agenda were the different lectures I gave at PixLeeuw Fotoclub, CC Asse and Noorderhuis. During these lectures I talked about New Earth, my book, and what drove me to create it.

I shared lots of video footage and told several stories of my time photographing the two most recent eruptions. It was the first time I spoke in front of a large audience and really enjoyed it. Especially with all the kind positive feedback afterwards. I’m looking forward to doing these kind of events more often in the future.

After each session, I also made time to sign my book and answer questions about the presentation.

New Workshop: Icelandic Highlands with Rod Thomas

I’m also happy to announce another workshop today. In September 2023, I will be roaming the Icelandic Highlands with Rod Thomas. Places on this workshop are limited!

We plan to take you to some of Iceland’s most well known Highlands locations along with some of the best known spots along the south coast. We plan on photographing waterfalls, glaciers, black sand beaches, volcanic craters and everything in between. With a bit of luck and good weather, we could also be shooting The Northern Lights into all hours of the night as they are already visible in this time of the year.

Puffins in the Midnight Sun

For those of you who are interested, I also still have two more spots available on my Puffins in the Midnight Sun workshop with Anja Robanke on Grímsey.

Grímsey is a true heaven for photographers that enjoy photographing birds. The island, which is located on the Arctic Circle, is very small. It’s 4,7 km long and 1,7 km wide. Because of this, everything is easily accessible on foot. This allows you to slow down and focus on getting the best shots without having to worry about travelling or getting on time to your hotel.

Getting Ready For The Holidays: Bundles!

I’m also happy to announce that I am now offering special bundles, combining several of my products, such as books & calendars, at a discounted price. At this time, I created 3 different bundles. The bundles are available as long as supplies last.
