Hraundreki

Hraundreki (translation: 'Lava Dragon') is an award-winning photograph taken during the 2021 volcanic eruption of Fagradalsfjall.

While photographing this eruption, I spent a lot of time trying to find patterns and shapes in the flowing lava. One of the most interesting ones was this fiery dragon’s head.

This photograph has won 2 awards: 1st place in the World Landscape Photographer 2022 Abstract category and 2nd place in the reFocus One Shot Awards 2022 Abstract category.

Hraunhjarta

Hraunhjarta (translation: 'Lava Heart') is a photograph taken during the 2022 volcanic eruption of Fagradalsfjall.

This is what the inside of the massive crater looked like. Being able to fly a small camera above a volcanic eruption in the middle of the night, gives us a fresh look at this incredible natural phenomenon. To me it looks like a beating heart with veins flowing out of it - giving life to the new landscape that is surrounding the crater.

Skýjasnúningur

Skýjasnúningur (translation: 'Cloud Inversion') is a photograph taken during the 2021 Fagradalsfjall eruption.

An aerial shot of the main crater of the Geldingadalir eruption after it finished an eruption cycle. The shot was taken right before a cloud inversion rolled in.

Ísjaki

Ísjaki (translation: 'Iceberg') is a photograph taken during a winter expedition in Ilulissat Greenland.

This is a top-down aerial shot of a massive iceberg in the Ilulissat UNESCO Icefjord. The way the different blue tones look combined with the ice makes it almost look as if it's an abstract painting.

Röndótt

Röndótt (translation: 'Striped') is a photograph taken during an amazing display of the aurora in 2021.

The northern lights, or aurora borealis, as it danced intensely above Karl, a rock just off the coast of the Reykjanes Peninsula. Easily one one of the most impressive displays of the northern lights I’ve witness to this day.

Sandsíli

Sandsíli (translation: 'Sand Eel') is a photograph taken during a 5-day stay on the remote island of Grímsey in Iceland.

This Atlantic puffin has its beak full of sand eels. His catch is meant for the little pufflings which are still hidden in their burrows.

This photograph has received an honourable mention in the reFocus One Shot Awards 2022 Wildlife category.

Meradalagos

Meradalagos (translation: 'The Meradalir Eruption') is a photograph taken during the 2022 volcanic eruption of Fagradalsfjall.

A top down look into the two main craters which formed after the first few days during the Meradalir eruption in 2022.

Áhorfendur

Áhorfendur (translation: 'Spectators') is a photograph taken during the 2021 volcanic eruption of Fagradalsfjall.

The photograph showcases the massive scale at which the lava fountain, or lava geyser, erupted. It shows our small size next to such a powerful display of nature’s force very well.

Hveradalir

Hveradalir is a photograph taken during my first visit to the area in 2015.

The smoky and fiery landscape of the Kerlingarfjöll geothermal mountains, located deep in the Icelandic Highlands.

Thanks to this photograph Jeroen was selected as a finalist in the FEP European Professional Photographer of the Year Awards 2016.

This print is only available until April 8th 2023!
