NEW: Drone Photography Masterclass: everything you need to know in 50+ videos. Click here to find out more!

The last few months I have been hard at work developing a unique photography-focused drone video masterclass together with my friend, Nigel Danson. For that reason, I spent the last week and a half in the UK finishing the last recordings for our course, which will consist of a whopping 50+ videos.

Having never really visited the UK with photography in mind, I have to say I have been pleasantly surprised with the potential I found – especially for drone photography. All of the images in this blog were taken within the span of only 1,5 days in the Peak District and Lake District. The weather forecast looked really unfavourable most of the days and that is exactly why I felt it was so good to go out anyway. It demonstrated beautifully the weather doesn’t need to be the best. In fact, it demonstrated you can fly in very strong wind and foggy conditions while also getting really dramatic views out of it.

This short, yet productive, trip made me hungry for more. I will definitely be back!

I captured this 2 by 4 horizontal bracketed panorama at Buttermere in the Lake District. I shot this during as the name-storm Ashley was raging through the area.

This winding road between the autumnal trees caught my attention. It was quite challenging to shoot due to the perspective chance when you move the drone forward.

The weather was really challenging, with high winds, but that also provides opportunities with constantly changing light.

Even foggy mornings provide exceptional opportunities. This little abandoned barn next to the road provided the perfect subject.

While sunsets don’t quite last as long as they do in Iceland, there are a ton of opportunities all around. This was taken very close to the place I was staying for the week. I was very lucky to have the flock of geese land into the pond I was capturing.
