Hraundreki (translation: ‘Lava Dragon‘) is an award-winning photograph taken during the 2021 volcanic eruption of Fagradalsfjall.

While photographing this eruption, I spent a lot of time trying to find patterns and shapes in the flowing lava. One of the most interesting ones was this fiery dragon’s head.

This photograph has won 2 awards: 1st place in the World Landscape Photographer 2022 Abstract category and 2nd place in the reFocus One Shot Awards 2022 Abstract category.
