## Aerials Of The Icelandic Highlands 2027 Drone Photo Workshop (29 July – 5 August)

**WAITLIST**

Join [Jeroen Van Nieuwenhove](https://jvn.photo/about/) on **an exclusive, small group, drone-focused trip of a lifetime** to the unspoilt highlands of Iceland! The desolate Icelandic highlands is an otherworldly area, which is challenging to traverse. The group photographs remote & hard-to-reach locations such as vast black sand deserts, lush green mountains, crater lakes and much more. Most of these locations are perfect for aerial photographs, so the focus is primarily on drone photography. The Central Highlands is the pinnacle of Icelandic landscape photography, and staying in a small group leaves maximum flexibility to optimise shooting opportunities.

The 29 July to 5 August workshop sits at the height of the highland season. The moss is at its greenest, every F-road that is going to open has opened, and the first real dusk of the year starts creeping back into the late evening. The group is capped at three, the route stays flexible, and the two bases sit close to where the flying happens.

This is one of three [Aerials of the Icelandic Highlands](https://jvn.photo/photo-workshops/aerials-icelandic-highlands/) departures running in 2027.**29/07/2027 - 05/08/2027 | 8 days/7 nights | 9250 Euro per person | 0 out of 3 spots available | Must own & be able to fly a drone**

## Itinerary

Please note that the itinerary is always subject to change depending on the weather conditions.

### Day 1 (29/07/2027) – Arrival in Reykjavík

The workshop begins when the group meets at the hotel in Reykjavík on the first evening. To break the ice, everyone heads out for a welcome dinner, a chance to get to know each other and to run through the plans for the coming days.

### Day 2-6 (30/07-03/08/2027) – Exploring the Icelandic Highlands

The group sets out to explore the lesser frequented areas of the Icelandic interior highlands from two hotels: one on the northern side & one on the southern side of the photogenic Southern Icelandic Highlands. Amongst other locations, the group photographs **a geothermal mountain range, incredible river patterns, black sand deserts, lush green mountains, big crater lakes** and much more. Locations are chosen based on weather and road conditions. Working from only two bases of operation, and a capable vehicle, leaves a lot of flexibility in the itinerary to get the most out of the trip.

### Day 7 (04/08/2027) – Return to Reykjavík

The group makes its way back to Reykjavík with a detour through the Highlands. In the evening there is a goodbye dinner before everyone parts ways.

### Day 8 (05/08/2027) – Departure from Iceland

On this final morning, you get to enjoy breakfast at the hotel before setting off.Join the waitlist[divider line_type=”No Line” custom_height=”500px”]

## What Are The Physical Requirements?

Almost every location on this trip can be flown from where the vehicle stops, so there is rarely any hiking involved. Occasionally the group walks a short distance to get clear of **unfavourable wind** or to find a better launch point. The ground underfoot can be uneven and slippery.

## What Drone Experience Do You Need?

**You need to bring your own drone and be able to fly and control it confidently before you arrive.** You do not need any drone photography experience, and that is exactly what Jeroen teaches on the trip. A good mix of photographic experience in the group means everyone learns from each other. The highlands are remote and the weather moves fast, so practise flying, landing and navigating in open space before the workshop. Workshop participants also get a discount to the [Drone Photography Masterclass](https://jvn.photo/drone-photography-masterclass/) after signing up.
