## Volcano Photography in Iceland

**Volcanoes** are an extremely fascinating natural phenomenon. They are the most powerful force on our planet, with the unique ability to destroy and create. Volcanoes shape our planet and it’s incredible when we get to experience them moulding a new landscape. During the last years, Jeroen has had the privilege to witness several volcanic eruptions in Iceland, such as the [Geldingadalir](https://jvn.photo/geldingadalir-eruption-timeline/) and [Meradalir](https://jvn.photo/meradalir-eruption-timeline/) eruptions. Jeroen has even written [a book about the first volcanic eruption he photographed](https://jvn.photo/all-products/new-earth-photographic-journey-geldingadalir-eruption/) in Iceland. Jeroen also [frequently writes about his work surroundings volcanoes](https://jvn.photo/category/volcano/), which you can read on his [blog](https://jvn.photo/blog/). In this gallery, you can see a collection of photographs taken during the volcanic eruptions of Fagradalsfjall & Svartsengi, which Jeroen has photographed.

To celebrate the five year anniversary of the first eruption at Geldingadalir, Jeroen created compilation video showcasing some of his favourite footage of the eruptions at [Geldingadalir](https://jvn.photo/geldingadalir-eruption-timeline/), [Meradalir](https://jvn.photo/meradalir-eruption-timeline/), [Litli-Hrútur](https://jvn.photo/litli-hrutur-eruption-timeline/) and Svartsengi.
