## Icelandic Highlands Photography

The **Icelandic Highlands** are one of Europe’s last true wilderness areas. This vast interior of Iceland is defined by volcanic deserts, colourful rhyolite mountains, crater lakes and powerful glacial rivers. The Highlands of Iceland remain largely untouched, with rough F-roads (mountain roads), river crossings and long distances without encountering any other people, making every journey into the Iceland Highlands feel like a true expedition.

For Jeroen, the Highlands have always been a source of inspiration. From sweeping black sand deserts and lush green valleys to dramatic volcanic craters in shades of red, green and black, the region offers endless opportunities for [drone](https://jvn.photo/gallery/aerial-drone/) and [landscape photography](https://jvn.photo/photo-workshops/nature-landscape/). Using both ground based techniques and drone photography in the Highlands, he captures the scale, patterns and raw textures of this extraordinary landscape from unique perspectives.

Jeroen regularly organises [dedicated Icelandic Highlands photo workshops](https://jvn.photo/photo-workshops/aerials-icelandic-highlands/), guiding photographers deep into the interior to explore and photograph some of the most spectacular and remote locations in the country.

In this gallery, you will discover a curated collection of photographs taken during his many expeditions across the Highlands of Iceland.
